we hosted a get-together  to celebrate Christmas and announce our engagement to all our friends and family.  featuring music by our good friends Jay Sims and Dana Cooper, it was kind of like a house concert without the chairs!

the Lord provided us with a beautiful night, and we helped it along with a little wine, a gourmet coffee/espresso bar (a gift from our friends at
Dana Cooper & Jay Sims serenade Serendipity Coffee Catering) and incredible food provided by our friends Megan and Bill Rooney, and my sister Catherine, who owns Sambet’s Cajun Deli in austin.  everything was perfect!

at the special request of the bride-to-be, Dana and Jay serenaded Rick and chick as we danced cheek to cheek (no i didn’t cry for once).  Dana offered “My Gift to You,” simply one of the most beautiful love songs ever written, and followed with “Lucky Guy,” because everyone keeps telling Ricky he is a lucky guy. (thanks, y’all, i need all the help i can get!)  Jay, who says he never writes love songs, borrowed from Lyle Lovett to remind us that “She’s No Lady, She’s My Wife.” 

an amazing number of friends turned out to help us celebrate, and our pastor Bruce Wood led the entire group in praying blessings over us.  it was so humbling, and we are grateful for it all.
