RPHC was born with lots of love, encouragement and influence from great folks. some of the links below belong to them. the others are commercial links for stuff i like to do and places i like to be. these links will give you an idea of what i am about.

Friends
These folks make life good-
aggieland's community radio station. they like to say they are the left end of the dial done right. good folks, good music - turn 'em on!
-
my sister's place in austin - 183 & spicewood springs. authentic cajun food and my favorite place to eat.
-
my friend, my touchstone, my hero.
-
these folks KNOW texas music. wish they streamed audio for us unfortunates who live beyond the beautiful texas hill country.
-
a fur-piece to travel, but worth it! an ever-growing annual summer phenomenon, the brain-child of my friend steve heckler.

Passions
all work and no play? from the looks of this list, i'll never be a dull boy-
my church and my lifeline. a great place to belong.
-
i'm in charge of the divorce recovery ministry at my church. this wonderful program brings help and hope to those experiencing separation and divorce. learn more about our program or find a program near you on this site.
-
i love it here. you will too.
-
what i did for a living from 2001-2004: coordinating the project to build this memorial. what an honor.
-
one of my passions, documenting life and all its blessing through scrapbooks. this was my business for nearly 10 years, now i partner with my friend Megan Rooney, a great consultant and friend. check out her site and see you at a workshop soon!
-
one of the coolest things i have done was to hike to abrams falls near cades cove with miChal.
-
it took me til i was 40 or so to realize the true nature of my texas heart. i hope i never live anywhere else. i tried to educate a californian once, with essentially the same impassioned points you'll find in this link - she just didn't get it.

Running
builds character, discipline and a deeper sense of self. oh yeah, and i run too.-
my first long distance race. five years later, i returned to the scene of the crime with four girlfriends and 25,000 other runners!
-
my 3rd race & the largest 10K in the country! a 6.2 mile july 4th party with me & 55,000 of my closest friends!
-
race #4 - two halves don't make a whole, but i improved my time on this half by 22 minutes!
-
2004 was my first race of any distance, and it's still my fastest by far. 2005 (race #5) was special for being the only race my kids and i all ran together (andy in flip-flops!) and i won andy's aggie ring that year!
-
Injuries prevented both miChal and me from running this race, what would have been our first marathon to run together, but we'll do it one day!
-
my son philip's 3rd race and my 7th - 4.4 mi in DEEP sand on a hot, humid, completely breezeless beach. brutal.
-
my 8th race was the olympic distance in sub-freezing weather! what a blessing to do it with my running partner megan. this day my son andy also ran his second half-marathon! i look forward to many more 26.2's -- guess i am officially nuts.
-
in my second marathon ('07) i shaved a whopping 10% off my time! this was the most enjoyable run i have ever had, race or training. every runner hopes for a race like this. now i'm spoiled -- and hooked on marathons!
-
What fun! The only nighttime race in the Brazos Valley. My second fastest time in any race! (If it weren't for the crowds, i prolly could have set a PR.) It's been a good year. Megan says that's what LOVE does. i can't argue with that.
-
The day after GLOW '07, i ran College Station's first hometown half. my fastest half by 13 minutes! a great run among many friends and familiar faces. Did it again in 09 and it was tough that year. Major wind.
-
Dropped out in '07 cuz i was sick. '08 was the best managed race I have ever run. What hospitality and organization! Can't wait to run my 4th full marathon here in January '10!
-
In brutal heat and not feeling well, i finished DEAD last in this small race, and still medaled in my age group. What a trip!
-
one of my DREAMS has always been to go to Hawaii. now i want to go AND run this marathon.

Throne Room Reading
my favorite magazines-
mmm . . . delicious soul food.
-
how can i read this liberal aggie-bashing rag? maybe it's like what my dad said when i found a playboy in his briefcase: he liked the articles. (so sue us!)
-
makes me "feel" like a runner to get this in my mailbox every month.
-
not a 'zine but great e-reading. i submitted the joak about the aggie on the offshore oil rig.
